All of our new friends are going to the Bahamas - are we going to join them?

Lately we have been making lot of friends although they aren’t kids. It feels good to have older friends that you can talk with a lot and feel safe and comfortable around.

There is Jeff and Marguerite, Allan and Lavonne, Mat and Lori, Peter and Joyce, and last but not least Bryan and Trang. It feels odd not to have any kid friends, like at home where there was kids everywhere but also kind of exciting.

Last week Jeff and Marguerite hosted a movie night with us and we watched Iron Giant. Next is music appreciation day because mom and dad don’t know any songs. Jeff and Marguerite are very special people. I like that when they see us at the pool they seek us out and then play with us for hours (and talk to mom and dad). The other night they invited mom and dad over for chili and brought us a big bag of fruit to eat. I think they enjoy being around us. It feels nice to have adults that want to be around you and like you even though you are a kid. I feel like I can share my thoughts with them and don't have to be afraid of being laughed at...unlike with kids who can laugh and be really mean sometimes. We have the same taste in books and they read a lot like I do - I look forward to talking with them about the books we've read. It's nice to know someone who likes fantasy books as much as I do. I like that they have a really big and different boat (Hunter 44).

This is Jeff and Marguerite’s boat. The inside is very big and very comfortable. Jeff chose the name :)

A few days ago we had a BBQ with Mat, Lori, Peter, and Joyce. We ate pork, chicken, steak, salad, chocolate covered donuts and chips. Peter and Mat are best friends from pilot school and Mat flew for privet royalty in the Middle East and commercial airlines as well. Right now the 4 of them are up in Annapolis for a week on a mooring ball.

Dad and mom met Allan and Lavonne at a first aid course and we met them again here at Herrington Harbour North. They invited us over to talk and we got to see their boat and had some food and fizzy water. They have a Soda Stream. I liked it because it gives you free sparkling water - well you have to pay for the canisters of carbon dioxide but then you can have as much as you want. We drink club soda as a treat when mom and dad let us. Last night Allan baked a honey apple torte...it smelled really good, looked fantastic and tasted beyond imagination.

This is the torte Allan made. It was soooo good. We had it for breakfast with some greek yogurt today.

It also is easy for us to make so many friends here because everyone has dogs and we love to pet dogs since Farley and Rosy died. Those few first day of living on the boat were so hard emotionally for us because the moving, the dog past away, and we were sooo tired.

This afternoon we are going to see Brian’s band play at the Boathouse just up the river. Brain and Trang live on a 58’ power boat and we saw it the other day after Bingo Night. They have 2 dogs and a cat. One dog is Chewy because he looks like Chewbacca…he is very jumpy, fast, little and likes to lick your face. The other is Samatha. She is a 15 year old dog and is very sweet. As soon as she smelled my sister Aden she followed her around like a little puppy. And then there is the cat Miso. Miso is, believe it or not, a swimming cat…she loves to swim and paddle board with Trang. I like her name because I really like Miso soup. Now that I am writing this I am hungry and want Miso soup!

A man named Ken found us on Instagram and he is in Herrington Harbour South and has an HR46 like us. He also has a dog, Cassie, and offered us his carpets and cockpit cushions as templates. On his dock was another really nice dog, Mika, a Wheaton-Husky blend with blue eyes and his owners had been living on their boat for 2 years. The other day we went to North Beach and walked on the boardwalk. After we went and found some ice cream. I got moose tracks, Aden got mint chip along with mom, Grace got midnight caramel river. While in North Beach we met a nice family from DC, they had a daughter, Sarah, who is going back to high school today. They had 2 dogs and we talked with them for half and hour. That day we met at least 10 dogs.

All of our friends are sailing to the BAHAMAS. I wonder if we are doing something wrong - like in the weather patterns maybe?

I kind of want to go to the Bahamas because there are so many islands and I hear the weather is gorgeous but I also want to go to the Caribbean and see Dominica and Grenada. I also want to go to the Caribbean to see a volcano, even if it is dormant, I think it would be really cool.

I think we should go to the Bahamas because all of our friends would be there and we could go to the same islands with them. We could do dinghy rides and race each other to the island. They would probably win because we have a big heavy fat boat. But we can sail in high winds and not have to reef.

I'm really hot right now and I want to go to the pool. Liam out!
